Hello, my name is Marisa Johnson, and I am the lead counselor at Northwest Jackson IB Middle School.  I began my career as a Professional School Counselor in Jackson Public School District. I received my bachelor’s degree at Jackson State University and a Master’s degree at Mississippi College. My philosophical pedagogy of education is to teach the whole child; therefore, I work directly and indirectly with students to provide a comprehensive counseling program that will address all students’ personal, emotional, and social needs, as well as ensuring their academic success.  I also collaborate with parents and the community to provide resources to enhance students’ achievement.  Counseling is not just my profession; it is my calling, and I truly enjoy it!
